大西洋探险

经过飞机的长途跋涉, 从北京来到西班牙的西部沿海城市维哥。之后再经过几天的海上漂泊，现在我深处大西洋的某处。作为一个地质学家，你需要适应这样的里程。有时会觉得疲惫，但是，整个旅程还是相当的吸引人。
在海上，科考船永远都在晃动，让人感觉又回到了婴儿时代，躺在摇篮中，面对一个新世界。但是，这种辛苦也有好处，这些天明显感觉到体重在下降。
大西洋总是神秘的。测立于船舷，可以看到浪涛从远处涌来，击打船身，然后破碎成朵朵白色的浪花。抬头凝望，那一轮上弦月抛洒光华，从深邃的天空一直到海面。让你觉得世界是那样的宁静，喧嚣的城市生活被远远地抛于脑后。
我们的科考很幸运，目前为止，我们已经打破了两项该船的记录。第一是取得了最长的重力钻孔。另外一个就是要取得5千米海底的钻孔。但是由于复杂的地质原因，第二个目的没有完全实现。
我的同事非常的好。在最初的几天，由于时差和对海洋的不适应，在半夜执勤的时候总是犯困。经常会小睡一会儿。Kais让我可以提前去睡觉。可是，我坚持即使是睡，此刻也要和大家在一起，因为我们是个集体。

Adventure in the Atlantic Ocean

After a long journey on the flight from Beijing to Vigo, and after another long trip on the boat from Vigo, right now I am floating somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. As a geologist, you need to get used to this kind of adventure. Sometimes it is a little bit tired, but the whole trip is rather attractive.
The ship is always shaking, during the first several days, I feel that I like a baby sleeping in a cradle. It also turns out that it is also an efficient way to lose weights.
The Ocean is mysterious. When you look at the shipboard, you can see that the onrushing waves flap the ship, and then turn in to white sprays. Meanwhile, the first quarter moon sprinkles the lights far from the deep sky to the Ocean. All of these can make people feel peaceful and forget the fast pace life on the continent.
We are lucky. So far we have broken two records of the ship. The first one is that we collected the longest gravity core, and the other is that we aim to collect a core from the deepest abyss about 5 km below the sea surface. Due to some geological reasons, the second purpose is only partially achieved.
My teammate is rather considerable. During the first several days, due to the six hour jet lag and sea-sick, I felt so sleepy when we are on duty between 11 PM and 2 AM. So I often made a cat nap. Kais said to me that I can go to bed, but I insisted that I have to have the nap near the teammate because we a ’Team’.

Aventura en el Océano Atlántico

Tras un largo vuelo desde Pekín a Vigo, y tras otra larga travesía en el barco, me encuentro ahora flotando en algún lugar del Océano Atlántico. Como geólogo, es necesario acostumbrarse a este tipo de aventuras. En ocasiones es un poco agotador, pero con todo, esta campaña está siendo muy interesante.
El barco se mueve continuamente. Durante los primeros días me sentía como un bebe que duerme meciéndose en su cuna. Resulta también que tanto movimiento es un buen sistema para perder algo de peso.
El océano es misterioso. Al asomarte por la borda, puedes ver como las olas arremeten contra el barco, transformándose a continuación en un spray blanco. Mientras tanto, la Luna en cuarto creciente baña el océano con su luz procedente de lo alto del profundo firmamento. Estos pequeños detalles nos llenan de paz y hacen que olvidemos por algunos instantes el ritmo ajetreado de la vida en el continente.
En cuanto al trabajo somos afortunados. En lo que va de campaña hemos batido dos records del barco. El primero es que hemos obtenido el testigo de gravedad más largo (4.10 m), y el siguiente ha sido la obtención del testigo más profundo, procedente de 5 km de profundidad en la llanura abisal. Por alguna peculiaridad de los sedimentos de esta zona el testigo obtenido no ha sido tan largo esta vez.
Mi compañero es bastante considerado. Durante los primeros días, debido a las 6 horas de jet lag y el mareo, una gran somnolencia se apoderaba de mí en la guardia de las 11 PM a las 2 AM. En muchas ocasiones el sueño se apoderaba de mi y me quedaba dormido. Kais me decía que me fuera a la cama, pero yo insistía en que aún dormido, prefería estar con mis compañeros, pues somos un “Equipo”.
